● ON THE NEEDLES NOW

NEW INITIATIVES COMING SOON!

We are currently preparing our next initiatives! In the meantime, you can always get involved by donating yarn, suggesting a new project idea or joining our regular coffee meetups.

● ON THE NEEDLES NOW

Handknitted Hats and Scarves

Knitted hats and scarves made for the students at the “Dr. Zlatan Sremec” Special Primary School in Skopje, in collaboration with the humanitarian organization “Sveti Spas”. The initiative covers 125 children aged 6 to teenagers, using universal sizes and soft neutral-colored yarn.

● ON THE NEEDLES NOW

Knitted and Crocheted Toys

Knitted and crocheted toys made of cotton yarn, intended to be donated to children finishing their treatment at the Oncology Department of the Children’s Clinic in Skopje. They need to be tightly stitched so that the silicone stuffing cannot escape through the gaps. The shape of the toys should encourage bravery and remind the children that they are fighters who have overcome a delicate condition and are ready to keep fighting strong in life.

PAST INITIVATIVES

● COMPLETED INITIATIVE

Knitted booties for newborns babies – Strumica

For this campaign, hand-knitted booties were made to bring gentle warmth and comfort to the newborns in the gynecology department at the Strumica hospital. Soft cotton yarn was used, following special knitting patterns to prevent any gaps around the babies’ tiny toes.

● COMPLETED INITIATIVE

Winter knitted items for children at Hematology and Oncology – Skopje

The initiative was repeated several times featuring knitted items in neutral colors, made from cotton and acrylic yarn. We made hats, scarves, slippers, socks, toys, head warmers ,and a small blanket tailored to the needs and ages of the children. The items were distributed to the parents present at the clinic.

● COMPLETED INITIATIVE

Crochet octopuses for premature babies: Skopje, Bitola, Prilep

Knitted octopuses designed for premature babies in incubators, intended for them to touch and hold their tentacles instead of medical probes and tubes. The tentacles simulate the umbilical cord and the feeling of security from the prenatal period, which can help calm the babies. The initiatives were carried out through several donations of knitted octopus packages to the PHI University Clinic for Gynecology and Obstetrics – Neonatology in Skopje, where some of the donations were made in cooperation with the NGO ‘Lulka’. In addition to Skopje, support and packages were also provided to the neonatology departments in Bitola and Prilep.

● COMPLETED INITIATIVE

Major blanket initiative for infants and toddlers – Bitola

This initiative stands as our largest initiative to date, bringing together around 90 kind-hearted people. Everyone contributed in their own way – from donating yarn, clothing, packaging materials, labels and textile products, to knitting and sewing toys, hats and clothes, making knitted squares and a total of 141 blankets, joining them together, as well as providing organizational support. Out of these, 105 blankets were donated to children in Bitola, while the remaining 36 blankets, along with knitted hats, were provided as a donation for children from vulnerable groups at the ’11 October’ Children’s Home.

● COMPLETED INITIATIVE

Warm winter products for people without a permanent home – Skopje

Through our initiatives, we made over 500 pieces of hand-knitted hats, scarves, socks, gloves, and more for our fellow citizens experiencing homelessness in Skopje. The items were personally distributed to the humanitarian aid recipients of ‘Vistinski dela na ljubeznost’ by the group’s organizers.
